What's a trip to New England without a lobster and clam bake?
After we returned from our paddle (about an hour and a half), a fresh feast awaited us.

Our host is busy with final preparations of our meal.
(Notice who is behind our host, peeking and checking out the progress??)

Mussels (Prince Edward Island mussels to be specific), finishing being steamed in water, garlic, onion and a bottle of Moosehead. Each couple was given a large bowl of them to munch on. Oh they were fabulous. No butter, no nuthin'. We ate them as they were. And they were just the appetizer!

Our host preparing one example of the main course. Freshly steamed lobster from the Bay of Fundy, which the body of water Saint John is on. Everybody got one. Locals feel the lobster tastes better served, cool or chilled, as opposed to hot.

Yummo!!. The lobsters were good eating. Lots of meat in the claws, some in the legs, and it was decadent just taking big bites of the tail meat. Mussels, lobster, drawn butter, potato salad, cole slaw, rolls and beverage. Outdoors along a beautiful New England bay surrounded by Fall colors. What a feast!

Mmmmm, mmmmm, mmmmm!
That's quite a seafood spread. I love Gene's big grin in the last picture!
Okay, okay. I've tried seafood here in Charleston.....and I liked it. My DNR buddy Carrie had me try some blacktip shark and blue crab. The shark meat....tasted like chicken. Blue crabs don't have much meat to them, but it was still good.
Won't become part of my regular diet, but its not half bad.
The lobster bib is a nice touch! :)
