Another Beach Day, followed by a Beach Night!!

What a great summer day we had today. This weekend is in the 90's each day, humidity growing as the weekend goes on. There will be 1,000,000 on Chicago's downtown beaches each day because the Air and Water Show is in town. Fortunately for us, we have that beach up in Kenosha, Wi (45 miles north) that we like (the same one featured in the previous posting). We still just dabbled our toes in the water. It was still cold even a week later.....go figure. : ) Nowhere near 1 million people up there, thank goodness.
We got home mid afternoon and proceded to change into our nice, bright Carribean type clothing and headed down to Toyota Park (about 30 miles s/w) for a night of fun, Key West / Carribean music with Jimmy Buffett. We've seen several major musicians over the last few years. Elton John, Billy Joel, Paul McCartney and Rod Stewart. Those were all exciting concerts with great music and we enjoyed them all. However, this was FUN FUN FUN!. Up on our feet singing and dancing from Jimmy's entrance onto the stage, through to the intermission 1 hour later. The second half he covered some Crosby, Still and Nash, The Rolling Stone and Beatles. None of them slackers, by no means. Then back to his music and back on our feet where we went on a trip to Margaritaville and swam with the sharks....Fins to the left, Fins to the right. Only one odd thing struck me. During the 3 tune encore, one of them was Yellow Submarine, an old Beatles piece. A fun, sing-a-long type piece, and he did it Buffett-esque, but struck me as odd it was not his music. None the less, we had a blast and smiled all the way home.

Parking lot gates opened at 9:00 A.M. for an 8:00 P.M. show. Tents, umbrella's and awnings to protect from the day long sun. PARRRRTYYYYY!! (Don't worry, we didn't get there until 6:30.)

Shark fin duct taped to a Porsche. Cute, but EWWWWWW! When we saw the driver stop and attach the fin, I wanted to slap him upside the head for puting duct tape on the car. : )

A little artwork for on the way to the concert on somebody's SUV.
There was also a shark fin and waves attached to the roof rack.

The crowd growing in anticipation of a fun time.

SummerZcool Tour 2009....SummerZ Cool / Summer Zcool. Summer has been cool and school was in session tonight with Professor Jimmy Buffett and his staff.

One of many ParrotHead's (bottom, left) in the crowd, the moniker of Buffett fans. Also, a blow up shark being bopped around the crowd (top, right). It was signed by various people in the crowd who played with it.

Jimmy, holding class (second from left), with a gorgeous sunset in the background. Islands and volcanoes also graced the backdrop during the concert.

Professor Jimmy himself on the big screen.
