Hi there...sorry it's been a while.
Last weekend we went up near Steven's Point, Wisconsin to spend the weekend at the lake house of one of Pam's counterparts from work. It was a nice, quiet, relaxing weekend. Got up there Friday evening. Settled in, visited with Jane and Tim and sipped some wine while logs burnt in the fireplace.
Saturday we went to a local cheese factory. Picked up some interesting varieties including Monterey Jack and cranberries. It was interesting to watch the equipment processing the cheese. We picked up a bag of curds and they were good. The only other time we'd tried them was in at the Minnesota State Fair a couple years ago, but they were deep fried.....and we liked them too.We also toured a couple of log homes of Gold Eagle Log Homes. They were really nice. One was just the right size for a couple. The other was seriously family sized. I don't know WHY I (Gene) didn't take any photos.
Saturday evening, Jane made a great beef stew for dinner, and we just hung out, consumed some adult beverages along with cheese, sausage and crackers we picked up at the cheese factory, watched a couple of movies and contributed to global warming by burning yet another fire in the fireplace.
Sunday was football for a while, and then headed home. They are about 100 miles NW of Madison, so about 250 miles in total. Easy drive. We're looking forward to going up there again soon.
Beautiful Snow Day
